City seeks input on building regulations

EPHRATA - Ephrata city administrators plan to meet with contractors to discuss changes in building regulations.

The forum comes after some contractors complained to the Community Development Department, said Wes Crago, city administrator. Rather than make assumptions, city officials want to hear what is and isn't working.

"If no one sits down and talks, nothing changes," he said. "We're here to serve the public and we want to do that the best way we can."

Crago said changes to international and Washington state building regulations along with amount of new construction and different staff doing the work, may have caused some frustration.

The mayor, community development director and Crago plan to attend the event at 9 a.m. on Sept. 30 in the city council chambers.
