MOSES LAKE - Genie Industries employees are not coming to work Monday morning in Moses Lake.
The business will close Monday through Friday next week, Genie Marketing Communication Manager Melinda Zimmerman-Smith said. The business reopens Sept. 20 and all employees will come back to work their regular shifts.
"The construction industry is experiencing significant slowdown," she said.
There are fewer orders for equipment and business management is reacting to the prevailing market condition consisting of higher construction costs, she said.
The business location in Redmond, Wash., is also closed Monday through Friday next week but will reopen Saturday.
Zimmerman-Smith said all employees were notified this week.
She was not sure if there was a temporary closure of any of the business locations in the past.
"(Genie is) a fundamentally sound company with a bright future and we are experiencing a cyclical slowdown," she said.
