A Bonners Ferry woman has been charged with driving under the influence after being involved in a two-vehicle accident.

At 8:49 a.m. July 24, Molly Butters was driving a 1992 Ford Ranger that crossed the centerline at 6378 S. Main St., and hit a car driven by Lawrence Unruh. Unruh and Butters were both treated and released from Boundary Community Hospital.

Idaho State Police Trooper Dustin Kralik responded to the accident and noted that while interviewing Butters, her pupils looked like pinpoints and she was very hyper, according to court records.

After searching the 34-year-old’s vehicle, Kralik found numerous plastic baggies with black powder and oily residue, capped syringes and spoons with residue in a backpack.

After being questioned, Butters admitted everything in the vehicle was hers and that she had moved to Bonners Ferry in an attempt to get away from a drug problem, according to court records.

Butters was charged with driving under the influence and possession of a controlled substance.
