CBSS program in first year of competition

MOSES LAKE - The Columbia Basin Secondary School Lady Phoenix dropped a four-game match to the visiting Easton Jaguars Thursday night.

The Lady Phoenix fell in the first two games of the match 25-21 and 25-23 before rebounding to win the third game 25-23. The Lady Phoenix could not maintain the momentum as they lost the fourth and deciding game 25-17 to the Jaguars.

The Lady Phoenix are in their first year of competition and head coach Lanny Ledeboer was satisfied with his team's performance.

"We were very happy with our play most of the match," he said. "As a brand-new team, we've come a long way in just four weeks."

Chjava Hardin led the Lady Phoenix attack with five kills, three blocks and four aces. Marissa Danielson also added 14 digs.

While Ledeboer was proud of his team's effort, he said he team needs to improve on the court.

"We still need to work on our serve percentage and our communication on the court," he said. "But we've made good progress in the first third of our season."
