Ephrata sweeps CWAC rival

EPHRATA - The Lady Tigers of Ephrata swept the visiting Quincy Lady Jacks 3-0 Tuesday in a volleyball match up between Central Washington Athletic Conference foes.

The first game was a tight contest with the Tigers topping the Jacks 25-23.

The Lady Tigers maintained their momentum in the second game winning 25-19.

The deciding third game was a mismatch with the Lady Tigers knocking off the Lady Jacks 25-8.

Ephrata head coach Charlotte Throgmorton said the Quincy Lady Jacks are rivals and she was not surprised at how well the two teams held up under pressure.

"Quincy never gives up against Ephrata," she said. "Ephrata never gives up against Quincy."

Manda Brindle led the Lady Jacks with eight assists, seven digs, three kills and three aces.

Taylor Kunkel finished the match with two aces, two kills, two blocks. Kayla Horning finished with two aces and seven digs.

The Lady Tigers' Allie Duff led the way for Ephrata with five aces and 13 assists. Lauren Yount had eight assists and Darcee Fales made four kills.
