Marsh leads Chiefs in Wenatchee

WENATCHEE - The Moses Lake boys cross country team rode a fourth place individual finish from Jeff Marsh to earn a fourth place team finish at the Wenatchee Invite Saturday at Wenatchee's Walla Walla Point Park.

Moses Lake cross country coach Jennifer Carpenter said Marsh ran his type of race Saturday.

"Marsh ran a gutsy race from start to finish," she said. "He is finally realizing that he can run with the front crowd and started out there in the race."

Moses Lake's Aristotle Santiago finished in 21st place and teammate David Asfour finished in 22nd place, one second behind Santiago.

"Asfour continues to surprise us out there," Carpenter said.

Moses Lake girls cross country team member Kristen Budeslich finished 22nd in the girls race as the Moses Lake team failed to finish in the top ten.

Carpenter said she was impressed with Budeslich's performance.

"(She) is finally looking like her old self," she said. "(She ran) her fastest time so far this season."

The Chiefs cross country teams travel to Eastmont Tuesday to take on the Wildcats.
