Flathead Gymnastics Academy's Rebecca Knutson was the all-around grand champion at the Montana State Gymnastics Championship in Great Falls on March 28.

Knutson's winning score was 36.425.

She was also the all-around champion for Level 5, winning the uneven bars and floor exercise and placing third on beam. It was a standout performance for the youngster, who battled the flu bug and a severe ankle sprain prior to the state meet.

Also for FGA, Aurora Bailey finished sixth in the all-around for Level 5, and Josephine Sherman was seventh. Level 5 had more than 70 athletes competing.

Knutson, Bailey and Sherman helped FGA finish fourth in the team competition.

In Level 4 for FGA, Samantha Waters was sixth in the all-around for the age 6-8 division, and Bryanah Bailey placed ninth. Also competing were Christina Kirchner, Morgan Corkish, Abigail Vanorny, Talisha Pelton and Samantha Waters.

The optional girls, Levels 7-10, had two FGA participants - Cassidy Williams and Margaret Cornell. However both were unable to complete the event due to injuries.

FGA will host the Regional Championships on April 17-19 at the Whitefish High School. This competition is for the optional Levels 7-10 and will include the region's highest ranked gymnasts.

Tickets will be available at the door for single sessions, or for the entire event. Gymnasts will be competing to earn the right to advance to nationals.
