EAST WENATCHEE, Wash. — Despite a late rally from the Moses Lake offense, the Chiefs couldn’t recover to knock off the Eastmont Wildcats in non-conference baseball action.

The Chiefs fell behind 3-0 early after the Wildcats put a trio of runs on the scoreboard in the first inning.

Moses Lake kept Eastmont off of the scoreboard in the second, but a three-run rally in the third gave the Wildcats a 6-0 lead. Eastmont added a pair of runs in the fourth inning for an 8-0 advantage.

Moses Lake head coach Ed McNamara said his team struggled on the mound Tuesday afternoon.

“We got behind a lot of hitters,” he said. “We were pitching behind in the count a lot and they took advantage of that.”

After failing to score in each of the first five innings Tuesday afternoon, the Moses Lake offense came alive in the sixth inning to cut the Wildcats lead to 8-5.

The Chiefs were able to cut the deficit to three runs with help from Garrett Greninger and Brock Lybbert. Both Greninger and Lybbert went 1-for-4 with a double and 2 RBIs in the loss.

Although the Chiefs managed to cut the Eastmont lead to three, the Wildcats offense scored five runs of their own in the bottom of the sixth to take a 13-5 advantage.

Moses Lake added a run in the top of the seventh, but it would not be enough to overcome the Wildcats.

Moses Lake senior Blaine Myers finished with a perfect 3-for-3 performance at the plate and he also knocked in a run for the Chiefs.

Although the Chiefs fell to Eastmont, McNamara said Moses Lake needs to prepare for Friday’s doubleheader with Davis at Larson Playfield.

“That was a non-conference game,” he said. “We need to forget it and get ready for Davis. We need to take both from them.”
