Troy boys rout opponent in tennis

The Troy High School boys tennis team romped over Clark’s Fork, Idaho, 6-0, on Wednesday on the home courts.

Jake Higgins, Pat Hickman and Creede Garcia all won singles matches. Higgins defeated Steffen Kirchgeorg, 8-7 with a 7-3 tiebreaker. Hickman downed Stillman Berkley, 8-3. And Garcia took care of Jacob Baber, 6-0.

Brandon Rebo was awarded a victory by forfeit at No. 2 singles.

In the doubles’ competition, Jesse Day and Shado Garrett teamed up to beat Kirchgeorg and Nate Neshitt, 8-3. Robb Higgins and Kody Hoffman won by forfeit at No. 2 doubles.

On the girls’ side, Clark’s Fork won three of the five matches. Winners for the Lady Trojans were Tara Duzan at No. 1 singles and Jackie Pepiot at No. 2 singles. Both defeated Tala Fehsel – Duzan by an 8-4 count and Pepiot by a 6-4 score.

A match between Libby and Troy originally scheduled for this past Tuesday was postponed until April 21.

Troy Softball Takes Two From Drummond

The Drummond High School softball team rolled into Troy Saturday with high hopes of ending a long streak of being on the wrong end of the score, and for half of the first game of the doubleheader, looked like they had every chance of doing just that. However the host Trojans exploded for nine runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, and then shut down Drummond in the top of the fifth, winning 14-3. Troy kept the bats hot in the second game, plating 21 runs to end that game early as well, 21-11.
