MOSES LAKE — Adrian Moffet’s future became a little clearer this week when the Moses Lake Christian Academy (MLCA) senior signed a letter of intent to play basketball next year at Skagit Valley College in Mount Vernon, Wash.

Moffet, who helped lead the MLCA Lions boys basketball team to second place at the 1B state championships this season, decided playing basketball for Skagit Valley College was his best opportunity to continue his career, he said.

“Right now, I think that this is the best decision for me,” he said.

After understanding and dealing with the pressures of recruiting for the past few months, Moffet said playing basketball for Skagit Valley College for Cardinals head coach Roger Valentine was the right choice.

“I had gone to a camp there before and it was a lot of fun,” he said. “Coach Valentine is really personable. Skagit Valley was the best decision for me.”

While Moffet is excited to take his skills on the basketball court to Skagit Valley College, Valentine and the Cardinals basketball program are happy to have him.

“We are extremely excited to have Adrian become a part of our program,” Valentine said. “He is a very gifted and talented player. We are excited for him to become a Skagit Valley Cardinal.”

Moffet played the majority of his high school career at MLCA, helping lead the Lions to the state title game on his way to an All-State selection from the Washington Interscholastic Basketball Coaches Association.

Moffet is a talented basketball player and Valentine said he is aware of his recruit’s abilities on the court.

“He is an extremely hard worker,” Valentine said. “We like his ability to score from the 3-point line as well as beat people off of the dribble to get to the rim.”

While Moffet said he enjoyed the recruitment process, he is happy to know he will be at Skagit Valley College after graduation.

“It feels good,” Moffet said of knowing he will play for the Cardinals. “It kind of feels good to have it out of the way. I am excited.”
