Following a doubleheader setback to an exceptional Havre squad on Friday, the Libby High School softball team rebounded in a big way the next day with victories of 21-6 and 21-0 over shell-shocked Browning.

The Lady Loggers won both games on the mercy rule and scored in nine of the 10 innings they played. Libby also combined for 33 hits in the two contests.

In the first game, LHS struck for nine runs in the top of the first. Five players had multiple-hit games – Candace Hendrickson (4-for-4), Amber Grubham (3-for-5), Alysha Martin (2-for-4), Jordan Refsland (2-for-4) and Lexi Hageness (2-for-4). Hendrickson had a pair of doubles. Taylor Armstrong notched the victory on the pitcher’s mound.

In the nightcap, Libby got a four-hit shutout with Martin, Stacey Oedewaldt and Hageness all seeing time at pitcher. The Loggers scored eight runs in the second to blow it wide open. Multiple-hit performances were turned in by Martin (4-for-5), Hageness (3-for-5), Grubham (2-for-4), Nicky Lapka (2-for-3), Hendrickson (2-for-5) and LaRona Luscher (2-for-3). Martin’s slugging percentage went up with a home run and double.

On Friday at Havre, the Loggers lost a pair by scores of 10-1 and 10-5. In the first game, Havre held a 5-1 lead going into the sixth inning and then put up five runs to put the game out of reach. In the second game, Havre struck for eight runs in the third.
