Mission powers by Troy softball girls

Mission erupted for six runs in the bottom of the second and later put up five in the fourth en route to a 16-3 victory over Troy in softball action from Thursday.

Mattea Grant tossed a one-hitter and fanned eight Trojans. Troy’s lone hit came off the bat of Kimmy Klin.

The Lady Trojans (0-3) were scheduled to play Plains on Monday and Eureka on Tuesday in games after presstime.

Troy is scheduled to take the field on Friday in Plains for a doubleheader against Deer Lodge. The team will also head to a tournament in Frenchtown on Saturday with games at 2 and 4 p.m.

Troy Softball Takes Two From Drummond

The Drummond High School softball team rolled into Troy Saturday with high hopes of ending a long streak of being on the wrong end of the score, and for half of the first game of the doubleheader, looked like they had every chance of doing just that. However the host Trojans exploded for nine runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, and then shut down Drummond in the top of the fifth, winning 14-3. Troy kept the bats hot in the second game, plating 21 runs to end that game early as well, 21-11.

Action on Quiet Waters Initiative expected May 26

The Montana Fish and Wildlife Commission will act on the Quiet Waters rule proposal in a meeting rescheduled for 8:30 a.m. May 26 at Montana WILD.
