Libby downs Troy in tennis

In the first of two meetings this week against Troy, Libby High School posted wins in boys and girls tennis on Tuesday.

The Lady Loggers defeated Troy, 5-2. The Trojans won two of the three singles matches that were played with Tara Duzan and Jackie Pepiot coming out on top. Libby’s Lindsay Kehn won at No. 2 singles. No match was played at No. 1 singles with Audra Poppen awarded a victory by forfeit.

The Loggers swept the doubles matches. Nichole Newman and Anna Valentine, and Jessay Black and Chelsea Ahort won their matches. Kyla O’Brien and Alissa Buti won by forfeit.

For the boys, Libby took a 6-1 victory with a sweep in singles. Alex Cislo, Hunter Sheffield, Cree Maloney and Cody Ercanbrack all recorded wins. Shado Garrett and Jesse Day won at No. 1 doubles for the Trojans in a competitive match against Cyrus Maloney and Nate Broden. Libby’s other two doubles teams won – Levi Edwards-Myslicki and Lewis Brossman, and Derek Willis and Zack Schikora.

The two schools hook up again on Friday in Libby. Sandpoint, Idaho will also be in town. The Loggers then head to Bigfork for a competition on Saturday.

Troy Softball Takes Two From Drummond

The Drummond High School softball team rolled into Troy Saturday with high hopes of ending a long streak of being on the wrong end of the score, and for half of the first game of the doubleheader, looked like they had every chance of doing just that. However the host Trojans exploded for nine runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, and then shut down Drummond in the top of the fifth, winning 14-3. Troy kept the bats hot in the second game, plating 21 runs to end that game early as well, 21-11.

Action on Quiet Waters Initiative expected May 26

The Montana Fish and Wildlife Commission will act on the Quiet Waters rule proposal in a meeting rescheduled for 8:30 a.m. May 26 at Montana WILD.
