George and Charlene Kalb will celebrate their 50th anniversary

George and Charlene Kalb will celebrate their 50th anniversary on Friday.

An open house will be held 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, at Trinity Lutheran Church. The couple requests no gifts.

George Kalb and the former Charlene Hatula married Aug 7, 1959, in Lakota, N.D.

They met at Bonners Ferry High School, where both were teachers. George Kalb taught U.S. history and government and his wife taught business and typing.

He enjoys fishing, golfing and watching his grandchildren play sports.

His wife enjoys sewing, gardening and quilting.

The couple’s children are Anne Kalb and her husband, Raymond Vezue, of Hanover, Md.; Georgia Kalb of Spokane, Wash.; John Kalb and his wife, Tammy, of Roanoka, Va.; Lynn Stone of Bonners Ferry; and Paul Kalb and his wife, Dianne, of Caldwell.

Grandchildren are Jared, Collin, Kendall and Evan Stone, and Andrew, Kristin, Kirby and Matthew Kalb.
