Joyce Lelia Andersen, 85, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 6, 2009, at Kalispell Regional Medical Center in Kalispell after a short illness. She was born on Jan. 24, 1924, in Aberdeen, S.D., to John and Bessie (Stewart) Hogue.

Joyce spent her first 20 years in South Dakota before moving to Chanute Field in Rantoul, Ill. This is where she met Clarence "Andy" Andersen, who was a flight engineer in the Air Force. They were married three months later on May 14, 1944. They then moved to South Dakota, where they lived until retiring and moving to Bigfork in 1983.

It was here they opened and operated Chapman Hill Antiques. They later moved to Kalispell where they were part owners in Idaho Street Antiques. Both Joyce and Andy loved to hike in Glacier National Park and were avid supporters of the Northwest Montana Humane Society.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Andy; and one brother, Jerome Hogue, formerly of Flandreau, S.D.

She is survived by two children, her daughter, Maureen Goddard, and husband, Tom, of Vermillion, S.D., and son, Neil Andersen, of St. Cloud, Minn.; two grandchildren, John Goddard and his wife, Betty, and their children, Dustin, Jacob, Madison, Carson and Jonathon, all of Sioux City, Iowa, and Tiffany Goddard of Burnsville, Minn.; as well as one brother, Warren Hogue, of Bigfork.

The family suggests memorial gifts be given to the Northwest Montana Humane Society of Kalispell.
