EPHRATA — The proceedings against a Moses Lake woman, accused of stabbing her boyfriend, are stopped for mental examination.

Hollis Lewis, 45, Moses Lake, is charged with second degree murder in Grant County Superior Court. She is presently being examined by staff at Eastern State Hospital, while she is held in the Grant County Jail.

Lewis’s defense attorney asked for her to be examined for competency and sanity, to determine whether she is able to stand trial and if she understood her actions at the time of the incident, according to court records. A developmental disability expert was also requested.

Lewis and her ?boyfriend, Herman Green, 50, Moses Lake, were arguing on Jan. 31. A witness reportedly saw Green push Lewis off of him, telling her he wasn’t going to hit her because that’s what she wanted. They then went into the bedroom, according to a Moses Lake police report.

A few minutes later, Lewis reportedly went into the kitchen, returning to the bedroom and stabbed Green, who came out of the bedroom saying, “Babe, you stabbed me,” according to the police report.

A witness told Lewis to call 9-1-1, but she was calling someone else, so he ran across the street and had a neighbor call, according to the police. When police arrived they found Green and Lewis. Green was transported to Samaritan Hospital, where he died.

Lewis gave the police two stories. At first she claimed that Green had been walking by Patton Park when he was attacked. When police pointed out there were no holes in Green’s jacket, she then told them they were arguing and when she went to leave the room, he grabbed her. She reportedly said she made a swiping motion and then Green needed help, according to the police report.

Lewis added they were the only people in the room, but she did not know how Green was stabbed, saying she has memory problems, according to the police report.
