MOSES LAKE — The Moses Lake Police Department offers a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of subjects responsible for graffiti and vandalism.

Last month three juveniles were arrested in Moses Lake because someone reported suspicious activity, Moses Lake police Chief Dean Mitchell said. When police made contact with those subjects, they realized they were spray painting property and suspect they were involved with other graffiti throughout the city.

“The arrests would not have been made without the assistance of a concerned citizen,” he stated.

He said he wants to offer an incentive to citizens to encourage them to report such activity.

“The police department investigates thousands of dollars of vandalism and tagging each week,” Mitchell stated. “I believe this is a positive step in deterring and preventing further vandalism.”

Also included in the vandalism prevention program are special emphasis patrols and security cameras being placed in undisclosed areas.
