POLSON — More than 200 runners made some extra room for their Thanksgiving feasts on Thursday morning and braved the thick fog for the 2009 Polson Running Turkey Trot.

The trot began on the west end of the entrance of Montana Highway 35, down the road to Haacke Road and back again. Thick fog coated the valley on Thursday morning, not burning off until later in the day.

Ronan runner Michael Fisher crossed the finish line first. He said the he had fun and the fog hadn’t slowed him down. Visibility was about 50 feet, he said.

Jenni Brown, of Polson, finished first for the women.

All the proceeds from registration went to food banks throughout the valley.
