LIBBY — The Ronan wrestling team started its season off on the right foot.

The Chiefs beat Libby 44-32 last Saturday in Libby.

Five pins in six different weight classes helped along with only five losses.

Lukas Conklin pinned Levi Edwards-Myslicki in 4:01 in the 98 weight class. Cameron Neiss, in the 135 class, pinned Cody Elliot in 1:37. At 140 pounds, Alex Greenfield pinned Andre Condit in 2:24. Micky Cheff pinned Morgan Peek in 1:45 in the 152 weight class. Cole McArthur, in the 160 class, pinned Dean Willey in 1:48. Toby Cheff pined Kody Berget in 4:58 in the 189 class.

Andrew Teigan and Dilan Starkel also earned victories for Ronan.

“Cody Johnson, Shelby Grant, Tyler Wheeler, Colby Roberts and Aaron Yazzle-Whitworth lost tough fought matches,” head coach Dustyn Azure said. “All these individuals are capable of wrestling at a different level than what they showed on Saturday.”

Ronan needs to work on getting off the bottom, he said.

“We just got out wrestled on the mat and are focusing on bottom work for this week’s upcoming matches,” Azure said.

The Chiefs travel this weekend to Butte for the Mining City Duels before taking on Whitefish at home next week.
