A Bonners Ferry man who pled guilty to his third DUI in less than three years was sentenced Tuesday to  60 days in Boundary County Jail.

Gary Gene Lyman, 39, was also sentenced to a two to four year suspended prison sentence, $750 in fines and court costs, three years supervised probation and had his driver’s license taken away for a year.

“I think that he has received these DUI’s in such a short amount of time is a bad sign,” said   prosecutor for Boundary County, Jack Douglas.  “I like to see defendants take responsibility and it concerns me that he told the pre-sentence investigator he should have been treated more harshly the first two times then he wouldn’t be here now.”

According to court records Lyman told the pre-sentence investigator that he didn’t think he needed treatment because he does not have the desire to drink.

“You should take this seriously and you probably do need some help and you should welcome it,” said Judge Patrick Luster.
