MOSES LAKE — Coming in with a seven-match winning streak, the Moses Lake Chiefs’ bowling team may have hit the proverbial wall.

Following last week’s payback win over Kennewick at Lake Bowl, hopes were that the Chiefs could keep their edge against Wenatchee on Thursday night.

They didn’t.

Dimming their chances of a Big Nine championship, Moses Lake (7-2) saw their momentum take a hit as they fell 3-1 to Wenatchee at Lake Bowl.

“We ran into a buzz saw tonight and the girls just didn’t have it,” Moses Lake coach Billy Brice said. “We came off of that big win and just went flat.”

Wenatchee came in strong and put it to the Chiefs with a 942-758 regular game 1 score.

Shanice Brice led the Chiefs with a 223 game.

“She tried to single-handedly keep us in the match,” Billy Brice said.

In the second regular game the Chiefs got their stroke back but the problem was Wenatchee didn’t want to cool down yet.

Moses Lake dropped the second game, 938-861.

“They were on fire, had all the breaks, we weren’t, and Wenatchee just bowled really well,” Billy Brice said.

Shanice Brice continued her solid run with a 235 while Angela Bravo pitched in with a 198.

“The other girls were just off,” Billy Brice said. “And we had some spare problems.”

In the baker games, Moses Lake dropped the first one, 183-152.

“The girls were pressing all the way trying to keep up,” Billy Brice said.

The Chiefs finally got on the board with a 174-139 second baker game win but by then the visitors had sewn up the victory.

“We didn’t get swept so that was nice,” Billy Brice said. “We need to put this behind, practice hard over the holidays and move on. Right now we are in second place and three teams could end up tied for first.”

The loss was a reversal of Moses Lake’s pin count win at Wenatchee in November.

The Chiefs don’t hit the lanes against until the first week in January.
