Violet Theresa Arneson Myers, 93

Violet Theresa Arneson Myers passed on Thursday, Dec. 17, 2009, of age-related causes. She was born Feb. 24, 1916, in Butte, N.D., to Maria and Arnie Arneson, one of 11 children. Violet spent her childhood and youth on the family farm. After leaving there she worked for Montgomery Wards in Spokane and Pullman, Wash. She later moved to Kalispell, where she met J. Ray Myers. They were married in Coeur d Alene, Idaho, Oct. 24, 1942, while he was stationed at Farragut Naval Station. They were together a short time before he was deployed for three years. During their 60 years of marriage they enjoyed traveling and spent many winters in Arizona. Violet was known to all as Vi and remembered for the many years she worked at JC Penney s in Kalispell. She had a wonderful green thumb, able to grow a beautiful garden and flowers, and a very large crop of raspberries which were loved and shared by many. Her grandchildren enjoyed her cookies, apple pies and raspberry jelly. Vi was a loving mother and grandmother, family being a very important part of her life. Vi was a long time member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Kalispell.s Vi is survived by sons, Jim and wife, Linda, of Pullman, and Ken and wife, Karen, of Havre; grandchildren, Gordon Myers, Tamara Hill, Brett Myers, Tonja Janette, Karley McKay and Kristopher Myers, and families, which include 14 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ethyl Lloyd, Martha Davenport and Helen Myers, of Peteluma, Calif., Ardella LaPointe of San Jose, Calif., and Gladys Olsen of Fargo, N.D. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Myers; her parents; a sister, Mildred Marsh; and brothers, Edwin, Ryder, Ernest and Clifford. Memorial services for Violet will be held at a later date.
