Letter: Commissioners stand behind county sheriff

Dear Editor:

A recent article in the Daily Inter Lake (re-published in The Western News, Feb. 4) discussed an effort by a few citizens in the Eureka area to recall Lincoln County Sheriff Daryl Anderson.

This board wants to go on the record as standing fully behind Sheriff Anderson and his staff. Sheriff Anderson’s office has thoroughly investigated all claims mentioned in the article.

It is unfortunate that gossip-lead attempts to discredit a committed public servant such as Sheriff Anderson grabs headlines when the years of continued dedication to protection of the public are overlooked.

This type of malice would be better channeled into efforts to work together with us to educate our communities about the requirements of the legal system, making sure that victims are supported in coming forward with any allegations, and community efforts to make our neighborhoods safer for all.
