Gary Marvin Shirtliff, 68

Gary Marvin Shirtliff of Eugene, Ore., and formerly of Kalispell, died Jan. 24, 2009, of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. He was 68.

He was born Aug. 13, 1940, in Plentywood to Herbert and Florence Johnson Shirtliff.

Gary served in the Navy and worked as a heavy-equipment mechanic.

He married Sandra Cox on June 24, 1989, in Reno, Nev.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra; two sons, James Shirtliff of Eugene and Jeff Power of Veneta, Ore.; two daughters, Annette Antone of Alvadore, Ore., and Tawnya Geertsen of Eugene; a sister, Darlene Christensen, of Montana; two brothers, Bob and Ron, both of Kalispell; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Scott.

A memorial service was held Jan. 31 at the Eagles Lodge in Eugene.
