Olga Julia Neuhausen Baylor of Kalispell "took advantage of a peaceful sleep to turn the final corner of her journey among us' early Thursday morning, Feb. 12, 2009. The daughter of Oscar E.W. Neuhausen and Clara E. Smith, she was born Aug. 18, 1915, in Allegheny County, Penn. She continued to identify with her Pennsylvania origin and her beloved hometown of Zelienople well into her 90s.

A resident of Buffalo Hill Terrace and Immanuel Lutheran Home since 2002, she moved to Kalispell in the mid-1980s with her husband, Bill, after more than 20 years in Grand Prairie, Texas, where both worked in the aerospace industry. Bill later passed away.

Always an independent individual, she was ever ready to explore a new opportunity or adventure, moving from Pennsylvania to San Diego to work in an aircraft plant during World War II, then shifting north to Washington state to work at the Hanford Project, and later still moving from Washington to Fort Worth, Texas, where she finally settled down after marrying Bill in the late 1950s. They traveled from Texas to Kalispell almost every summer for more than two decades, finally relocating permanently to the Flathead Valley after Bill's retirement.

Olga is survived by sister and brother-in-law, Alma (Neuhausen) and Jack Laney, of San Diego; nephew, Chris Neuhausen and wife, Virginia, of Kalispell; her three stepsons and their wives, David and Marge of Seattle, Dennis and Dani of Wimberley, Texas, and Randall and Debbie of Austin, Texas; five grandchildren, Derek, Julie, Josh, Michael and Adam; and three great-grandchildren. Her passing is mourned by former neighbor and dear friend, Polly Nikolaisen, of Kalispell; and many others who enjoyed her outgoing attitude and her unquenchable sense of adventure.

She will take her final rest next to her beloved Bill at C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery. No services are planned at present, but her family hopes to gather in celebration of her life and spirit later in the spring or summer.
