MOSES LAKE — The Seattle Mariners are coming back to Moses Lake.

After a three-year hiatus, the Mariners Caravan will head to Knolls Vista Elementary School to promote their D.R.E.A.M. program to Moses Lake youth Wednesday followed by a baseball skills clinic at Big Bend Community College.

The Mariners Caravan stop in Moses Lake is part of a three-week trip the Mariners will take around the Northwest.

When the Mariners head to Knolls Vista Elementary School, they will present the D.R.E.A.M. program to the students between 2 p.m. and 2:30 p.m., said Mariners spokesperson Rebecca Hale.

“They stand up in front of the kids and go through the letters of D.R.E.A.M.,” she said.

The D.R.E.A.M. principles are: Drug-free, Respect for yourself and others, Education through reading, Attitude, and Motivation to achieve your dreams.

The Mariners have not been in Moses Lake since 2006 and Hale said the organization is excited to come back to the Columbia Basin.

“It’s a fun event,” she said. “We haven’t been to Moses Lake in a while. We are glad to be back.”

The Seattle Mariners Caravan includes pitcher Ryan Feierabend, infielder Matt Tuiasosopo, broadcaster and former Mariners third baseman Mike Blowers and the Mariner Moose.

Following the D.R.E.A.M. assembly at Knolls Vista Elementary School, the Mariners will head to Big Bend for a baseball skills clinic, Hale said.

The baseball skills clinic will take place at the Wallenstien Performing Arts Center on the Big Bend campus between 4 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.

“(There is an) emphasis to (people) playing on all levels,” she said.
