EPHRATA — The Ephrata Tigers boys basketball team hosted Central Washington Athletic Conference (CWAC) foe Grandview Friday night.

The defending state champion Tigers entered the contest 4-3 overall and 3-2 in CWAC play.  The Greyhounds traveled to Ephrata 2-4 overall and 2-3 in CWAC Play.

In the end Ephrata couldn’t find an answer for the Greyhounds and Grandview rolled to the 72-47 conference victory before a full crowd. The Greyhounds improved to 3-3 in conference play and the Tigers fell to 3-3.

From the opening tip off the Greyhounds handled the Tigers.

The Greyhounds got on the scoreboard first but the Tigers managed to stay with Grandview through the game’s first 8 minutes. At the end of the first quarter the Greyhounds held a 15-14 advantage.

The Greyhounds began to run away with the game in the second quarter with a running-style of play the Tigers were unable to match. The Greyhounds extended their lead to 35-26 heading into the half.

Ephrata continued to fall behind and the Greyhounds poured it on in the second half to take a 54-36 lead into the fourth quarter.

The final period was all Grandview as the Greyhounds sprinted to the victory on the road.

Rogi Fajarando led the Tigers in scoring with 27 points and grabbed eight rebounds in the loss.

EPHRATA — The Ephrata Lady Tigers took to the court Friday night at home against Central Washington Athletic Conference (CWAC) foe Grandview.

The Lady Tigers jumped out to a 13-6 first-quarter lead in front of a packed gym at Ephrata High School.

As the teams entered the half, the Lady Tigers extended their lead to 29-22 with the help of a solid team performance.

Although Ephrata held a 29-22 lead at halftime, the Greyhounds came out of the locker room charged up and Grandview fought their way back in the third quarter to tie the game 34-34.

The Lady Tigers answered with a five-point run to end the third quarter with a 39-34 advantage.

Ephrata tried to pull away from Grandview in the fourth quarter but could never seal the victory in the game’s final 8 minutes. However, the Lady Tigers eventually pulled away from the Greyhounds and earned a 50-47 victory.
