MOSES LAKE — Law enforcement released information Monday in hope of identifying a man who was found murdered in a field near Mattawa Jan. 20.
The man was found near a farm service road with several “sharp force injuries” to his head, face and body, according to Grant County Sheriff’s Office Undersheriff John Turley.
Initially it was reported by a farmer who found the man that he might have been shot in the head.
The body was found without identification, according to Turley.
“The only identifiable mark is a tattoo located on the victim’s right bicep,” he stated. “The tattoo is described as (a) two strand woven band/chain with a decorative cross hanging from it.”
An autopsy revealed the Hispanic man was 5-foot, 3-inches tall, 152 pounds, with short black hair, a sparse mustache and brown eyes. He appears to be in his late 30s or early 40s. He also has a skin tag mole on the right front portion of his neck.
No one fitting his description was reported missing recently from the Mattawa area.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at 509-754-2011.
