A Monroeville, Pa., native, Tom Mooney passed away on Dec. 12, 2008.

Tom was a Turtle Creek High School graduate who then attended the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, N.Y. Tom spent 20 years in the Army before moving into the public sector.

Most recently, he was co-chairman of the Board for Hi-Shear Technology. Tom enjoyed life in Southern California as well as Lakeside.

He loved playing bridge, reading and time with his family.

Tom is survived by his wife, Mell Mooney; his two daughters, Laura Nary and Doreen Kidd; as well as his four grandchildren, Megan, David, Nathan and Kathryn.

He will be missed.

Cremation has taken place.

Climate change awards announced

Climate Smart Glacier Country announced its Climate Smart Champions during a ceremony at the Earth Day celebration April 21 in Whitefish. Awards were presented to businesses, youth and an individual who are leaders in building local solutions to climate change challenges.
