MOSES LAKE — The Columbia Basin Job Corps new business community liaison is a face known at the center.

After working as a recreation specialist at the center for more than five years, Susan Mann starts her new position Monday, she said.

Mann, 36, said she decided to submit her name for the liaison position because the duties overlap with outreach work.

“There are so many positive things with job corps,” she noted. “When the opportunity occurred, it seemed like a great time to jump into it more full time.”

Mann said she worked with former liaison Bonnie Eagar on a project at the animal shelter and with former liaison Jennifer Thomas through the Grant County Fair Board and Columbia Basin Allied Arts.

“I really enjoyed working with the students and taking them on the activities,” Mann said.

She also assisted students with community service projects on the nights and weekends, Mann explained.

She said she wants to let people know what a great opportunity job corps provides for young adults.

Carrying out community service projects with students is another one of her goals, she said.

A temporary employee will possibly be brought on to fill Mann’s former position until a replacement is found, she said.

Mann holds an associate’s degree in business administration from the University of Maryland and previously worked for the U.S. Department of Defense.

She is married and has two sons, ages eight months and 2 years.
