MOSES LAKE — Five people were arrested in connection with the shooting of a 22-year-old Moses Lake woman Saturday morning.

Moses Lake police responded to a report of a shooting at a residence on Washington Street at 12:05 a.m., Moses Lake police Capt. Dave Ruffin said Monday. When police arrived, they located Sherrie Jeff with a gunshot wound to the face.

She was transported to Samaritan Healthcare and was later taken to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane.

Police learned the woman was shot after several people drove by in a Dodge pickup truck, with one person firing a gun at the residence, Ruffin stated. The suspects were located at a residence on Central Drive.

Five people were arrested in connection with the shooting shortly after the incident.

Saul Calixto Olivares, 20, Moses Lake, was booked into Grant County Jail for attempted murder in the first degree, drive-by shooting, felon in possession of a firearm and malicious mischief in the first degree.

Eric Calixto Olivares, 22, Moses Lake, Michael J. Montejano, 18, Moses Lake, and Antonio V. Ramirez, 18, Moses Lake, were booked into jail for conspiracy to commit drive-by shooting, felony riot and malicious mischief in the first degree.

Adrian Ortiz-Hernandez, 21, Moses Lake, was booked into jail for felony riot.

“I’m a lucky girl,” Jeff said in an interview with the Columbia Basin Herald.

She explained how a bullet grazed her face, barely missing her eye. She had to get stitches. She is staying at an undisclosed location in Moses Lake because she is afraid to return home.

Jeff said she was standing in front of her neighbor’s home at the corner of Loop Drive and Washington Street. She said she heard glass breaking seconds before she was shot.

The glass breaking was the windows on two of her vehicles due to gunfire. When she realized what happened, her face was bleeding but she remained alert and aware of what happened.

She said she did not believe she was an intended target.

“I was just hoping I was OK,” Jeff said. “I felt it hit my head. My eye blacked out. My ear was ringing.  I was in the line of all the shots.”

She said she believed the fourth bullet fired struck her.

Jeff said she wasn’t sure what to think about the men being arrested.

“I hope they get put away for life,” she said.

Police continue to investigate the incident.

The Grant County Sheriff’s Office and Washington State Patrol assisted the Moses Lake police.
