Donald M. Cropsey Jr. passed away July 12, 2009, in Kalispell. He was born March 3, 1954, in Pasadena, Calif., to Donald and Wordia Cropsey.

He attended public schools, graduating from Pasadena High School in 1972.

Subsequently, he received training to become an emergency medical technician. He was employed in that capacity in Montebello, Calif., until he relocated to Bullhead City, Ariz., in 1977. In Arizona, Donald was a volunteer and photographer with that city's fire department.

In 1991, Donald relocated to Kalispell. He eventually gained employment with Wal-Mart in the electronics department. He frequently expressed his gratitude to his co-workers and customers for their kindness while he was recovering from heart surgery.

A memorial service will be held for Don at 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 21, at the Bible Baptist Church, 64 Dove Lane, in Kalispell. A potluck will follow.

Climate change awards announced

Climate Smart Glacier Country announced its Climate Smart Champions during a ceremony at the Earth Day celebration April 21 in Whitefish. Awards were presented to businesses, youth and an individual who are leaders in building local solutions to climate change challenges.
