Local community supports Grant County EDC

MOSES LAKE — The Grant County Economic Development Council (EDC) will host the ninth annual Duel in the Desert golf tournament Friday, July 31.

Golfers and sponsors from throughout Grant County will gather at the Moses Lake Golf Club next week to raise funds for the EDC.

The EDC was formed in 1991 and is a non-profit organization dedicated to solving economic problems within the Grant County community.

“The mission of the Grant County Economic Development Council is to work for the continued, orderly growth of the Grant County economy while improving quality of life,” according to the EDC Web site.

The Duel in the Desert golf tournament is the primary fund-raising effort for the EDC and will begin at 8 a.m. with time at the Moses Lake Golf Club reserved at the driving range.

The 2009 tournament will begin at 10:30 a.m. with a shotgun start.

The Duel in the Desert tournament consists of four-person teams comprised of tournament sponsors. Sponsorships for the EDC’s tournament range from $600 to $5,000.

Drink cart and closest-to-the-pin sponsorships are available for $600 and include reservations for one golfer and two admission tickets for the Party on the Green.

Major sponsorships top out a $5,000 and include space for eight golfers and include eight admission tickets for the Party on the Green. 

After golfing is completed, participants will take part in cocktail hour from at 6 p.m., followed by dinner and dancing.

The tournament festivities are scheduled to conclude at 1 a.m.
