Libby opens districts with 16-0 rout

The Libby Loggers baseball team opened the Western A District tournament on Thursday with a 16-0 rout over the Bitterroot Bucs.
Libby entered the tournament as the No. 2 seed out of the north. The North's top seed – Kootenai Valley Rangers out of Eureka – was upset by the Missoula Mavericks, 8-7.
Dustin Morningstar tossed a three-hitter with six strikeouts.
At the plate, Chris Herbig and Joe Coker each went 3-for-5. Morningstar and Colton Cannon added two hits apiece. Herbig had seven total bases – single, double and home run – and three RBIs. Cannon also drove in three. Derek Willis hit a homer as well.
The Loggers are scheduled to play Friday night at 7.

Troy Softball Takes Two From Drummond
The Drummond High School softball team rolled into Troy Saturday with high hopes of ending a long streak of being on the wrong end of the score, and for half of the first game of the doubleheader, looked like they had every chance of doing just that. However the host Trojans exploded for nine runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, and then shut down Drummond in the top of the fifth, winning 14-3. Troy kept the bats hot in the second game, plating 21 runs to end that game early as well, 21-11.
Action on Quiet Waters Initiative expected May 26
The Montana Fish and Wildlife Commission will act on the Quiet Waters rule proposal in a meeting rescheduled for 8:30 a.m. May 26 at Montana WILD.
