Vaughn E. Hiatt, 65, longtime Moses Lake resident, passed away Saturday, May 30, 2009, at Deaconess Medical Center in Spokane, Wash.

Vaughn was born on March 7, 1944, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Golden Edward and Gladys Cahoon Hiatt. He moved with his family to Moses Lake when he was 11 years old. He married Karen Justesen in 1984.

He recently retired after 42 years at J.R. Simplot.

Vaughn enjoyed being with family, and puttering in his wood shop.

Survivors include his wife Karen, of Moses Lake; daughter Stephanie (Klint) Belnap; grandson Zacheria Belnap all of Spokane, Wash.; his sister, Cheryll Dillon of Lynnwood, Wash.; his brother Marlowe (Marguerite) Hiatt of Auburn, Wash., and many nieces and nephews.

A viewing will be held at Kayser’s Chapel of Memories, 831 Pioneer Way, Moses Lake, on Thursday, June 4 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 5tat 10 a.m. at the Moses Lake LDS Stake Center 1515 S. Division. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to either The American Heart Association, or The American Diabetes Association.
