Candidates file for council seats

Several candidates have filed for City Council seats in the Nov. 3 city elections.

In Kalispell, candidates as of Monday included incumbent Bob Hafferman in Ward 1; incumbent Hank Olson in Ward 2; Marc Rold and incumbent Jim Atkinson in Ward 3; and incumbent Tim Kluesner in Ward 4.

Kalispell Municipal Judge Heidi Ulbricht has filed for re-election.

In Whitefish, Chris Hyatt and Philip B. Mitchell have filed for council seats. The terms of Whitefish council members Nick Palmer, Frank Sweeney and Nancy Woodruff expire at the end of the year, but none of the incumbents have filed yet for re-election.

Whitefish City Judge Bradley Johnson is running for Whitefish's new municipal judge position.

In Columbia Falls, Matthew McConville and incumbent Michael Shepard have filed for council seats. The terms of Shepard, Harvey Reikofski and Dave Petersen expire at the end of the year.

Don Barnhart, former Columbia Falls fire chief and current City Council member, is running for mayor.
