Joyce Workman, 70

Joyce Workman, mother, daughter, sister and friend, died on June 14, 2009, peacefully at her home in Kalispell, surrounded by family and friends she made during her memorable life. She was born to Ross and Mayme (Moore) Duke in Mitchell, S.D., on Nov. 4, 1938.
The family moved to Cut Bank in 1951, and following graduation she attended Carroll College. Most of Joyce's life was devoted to education, teaching in Catholic schools in Baltimore, Salt Lake City, and St. Matthew's in Kalispell. She also served with the Peace Corps for two years in Sierra Leone, West Africa. She completed her own education at Flathead Valley Community College in 2003.
Joyce brought her artistic ability and love of teaching to her Creative Memories business which she shared with her daughter Katie. She touched many lives and had a special bond with those she inspired to make photo albums, tell their family stories and make every moment count.
The last several years she enjoyed many special events and high school sports in the Flathead area with her companion, Doug Wendt, of Whitefish.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Dan.
Survivors include her daughters, Colleen Hofland of Whitefish, Danette Bell of Bozeman, and Katie Robinson and husband, Gene, of Salt Lake City; grandchildren, Jamie Beaumont, Jackson Bell, Ashley Wierda and husband Eddie, Andrew and Daniel Robinson, and Daniel Rose; sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Jim Harrington; two great-granddaughters; and many nieces and nephews, and cherished friends.
A rosary service will be held at 6 p.m. today, June 17, at St. Matthew's Catholic Church in Kalispell. A Funeral Mass will be held at 12:10 p.m. on Thursday, June 18, at St. Matthew's Catholic Church.
The family suggests that any memorial contributions be made to Glacier Presbyterian Youth Camp, P.O. Box 384, Lakeside, MT 59922; or St. Matthew's Catholic School, 602 S. Main Street, Kalispell, MT 59901.
