Although the lawn could use a mow and you promised Aunt Flo a weekend visit, folks in Libby and Troy will have plenty of options for things to do this weekend.

Here’s a rundown of things to do this weekend:

Friday-Sunday – The Big Bucks Tournament gets under way with the first pitch at 9 a.m. The tourney field this year features eight teams from Montana, Idaho, Washington and Alberta. Games continue all day with Libby playing in Friday’s finale at 8:15 p.m. The tourney continues pool play on Saturday with six more games over the course of the day. The Loggers hit the diamond at 6:15 and 8:15 p.m. Finally, if you still want more baseball, check out the championship round. The matchups will be determined by those pool play results. The action begins at 10 a.m. with the championship set for 5:30 p.m.

Friday-Saturday – The Timberbeast Disc Golf Tournament will consume Troy over two days. Disc golfers from all over the Pacific Northwest will square off to make the claim as the region’s best. It all gets started on Friday with registration from 4-9 p.m. and a random doubles tourney at 6 p.m. On Saturday, the regular tournament begins at 8:30 a.m. In the late afternoon, the vendors will set up shop in Roosevelt Park with the musical acts beginning at 5 p.m. The popular “Discs Across the Kootenai” will be staged at 7:30 p.m.

Friday – Enjoy the art of beer tasting while raising money for the Libby Community Tennis Courts during an event in the Ponderosa Room (located behind city hall on East Spruce in Libby). The beer tasting will also feature prizes, raffles, appetizers and an auction with a list of prizes that look pretty good.

Friday – After sampling some brew, you could then throw on your best ‘80s garb and take part in a prom at the Memorial Center. The event is for adults ages 21 and older and will be a full-scale, ’80s-themed prom – including a grand march, portraits and prom royalty. The doors open at 8 p.m. and you won’t want to miss the grand march at 8:30.

Saturday – Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks will host its annual Kids Fishing Derby beginning at 8 a.m. out at the Troy Community Pond in Roosevelt Park. Loaner rods and bait will be available and kids can win prizes. No pre-registration is required; just show up and fish.

Saturday – Kootenai Pets For Life will host the annual Duck Races at 1 p.m. in the swimming pool at the Venture Inn. For those who got their tickets, they’ll jump in the pool and try for a prize. The duck races had been in Flower Creek in past years but to play it safe, they were switched to the pool. The event serves as a fundraiser for Kootenai Pets for Life and Lincoln County soccer.
