Libby High School’s Joel Fuller played in the defensive backfield for the Montana all-stars in the 16th annual Knights of Columbus Badlands Bowl on Saturday in Miles City.

Fuller’s Montana squad rolled to a 33-7 victory over North Dakota behind three touchdowns from Townsend’s Shade Theriault.

Montana led 19-7 at halftime with Theriault scoring on a 7-yard run and 79-yard reception from Matt Reyant. The Montana QB out of Helena Capital also scored on a 5-yard run. In the third quarter, Steven Rominger out of Missoula Sentinel scored on a 2-yard run. And in the fourth, Theriault scored his third TD on a 73-yard pass from Reyant.

Theriault, who will play at Rocky Mountain College, ended up with four receptions for a Badlands Bowl record 156 yards. He also rushed for 68 yards on six attempts to earn the team’s offensive MVP award.

Fuller and the Montana defense allowed just one touchdown and 299 yards of total offense – including 86 on the ground.

Fuller (6-0, 176 pounds) will play at Montana State University. He sparkled at quarterback for the Loggers during his high-school career and in all classifications in Montana history, he ranks third all-time for TD passes (69) and fifth all-time in passing yards (6,399).

Montana’s all-stars have defeated North Dakota in 11 of the last 13 games.
