EPHRATA — A Soap Lake man accidentally crashed his motorcycle into a cow and was later struck by a car on state Route 28, two miles east of Ephrata, Tuesday night.

Russell D. Triplett, 59, was riding westbound on the highway on a 2008 Suzuki DL650 motorcycle when he collided with a cow blocking the roadway, the Washington State Patrol reported.

Dora A. Coreas Guzman, 46, Ephrata, stopped her 2006 Toyota sedan to help the motorist, the state patrol reported. She turned on her emergency flashers to warn other drivers of the accident.

Debra L. Nelson, 41, Ephrata, was traveling westbound on the highway in a 1998 Ford Windstar when she reportedly struck the Toyota sedan, the state patrol reported. The impact caused the sedan to rotate and strike the injured motorcyclists and his bike.

Nelson was allegedly under the influence of alcohol, the state patrol reported. She was not injured.

Triplett was transported to Deaconess Medical Center in Spokane for treatment of unspecified injuries.

Guzman Coreas was taken to Columbia Basin Hospital for treatment of a possible neck fracture.

Cora Coreas, 36, Soap Lake, a 12-year-old Soap Lake female, an 11-year-old Soap Lake female and a 3-year-old Ephrata male, were passengers in the Toyota and were taken to Columbia Basin Hospital, but there was no report of any injuries to them.

All three vehicles were totaled and removed from the scene.
