Jane Howington has signed an offer to become Kalispell's new city manager.

City officials announced the decision in a press conference at City Hall Friday morning, wrapping up four days of negotiations since council members overwhelmingly agreed to pursue an agreement with her during a special meeting on Monday.

The council will hold another special meeting this Monday, June 29, to vote on the contract.

"She offers the city vast experience" in municipal government, Mayor Pam Kennedy said.

Kennedy was joined by Interim City Manager Myrt Webb and council member Randy Kenyon in making the announcement.

Howington, a nine-year veteran of city management in Dayton and Oxford, Ohio, agreed to a $112,500 salary for the Kalispell job plus $5,000 deferred compensation annually to go into the retirement fund of her choice.
