Logger Days highlights this weekend’s activity slate for residents and visitors.

The 51st version of the Libby festival got started on Thursday out at J. Neils Memorial Park but a lot remains Friday through Sunday. Highlights include the kids’ logging events (5 p.m.), Bull of the Woods (7 p.m.), queen coronation (7 p.m.) and the Copper Mountain Band concert (8 p.m.) on Friday; the 5K/10K fun run (8 a.m.), parade (10 a.m.), kids’ pingpong drop (noon), adult logging events (8 a.m., noon) and lawnmower races demo (7:30 p.m.) on Saturday; and the Logger Brunch (11 a.m.) and kids’ sawdust pile (1:30 p.m.) on Sunday.

The carnival and various food and merchant booths open at 11 a.m. Friday and Saturday and then run from noon-5 p.m. on Sunday.

But there’s a whole heck of a lot more going on in addition to Logger Days. The Loggers Legion baseball team will play a home doubleheader on Friday with the first pitch scheduled for 5 p.m. And then on Saturday, the Kambel Scrambel golf tournament will be staged out at Cabinet View Country Club with a shotgun start set for 9 a.m.

For a fascinating look at the capabilities of ham radio, the Lincoln County Amateur Radio Group will be involved in a field day for 24 straight hours beginning at noon Saturday. The group invites anyone to come out and pay them a visit anytime during that day-and-night stretch.

Back at Lee Gehring Field on Saturday night, the Logger Legends Baseball Game will be played. The special event is slated to begin at 7 p.m.

For those with any energy left on Sunday, sit back and take in the sights and sounds of the Kiwanis Demolition Derby. The demo derby will be out at the Millpond Moto-X track in Libby.

On Monday from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Memorial Center, local youngsters can audition for “Oliver! The Muscial” and sign up for Kootenai Heritage Council’s musical theater camp.
