ACH finishes third

YAKIMA, Wash. — Second-ranked Almira/Coulee-Hartline never trailed Saturday and the Warriors claimed the third-place trophy at the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association 1B boys state tournament with a 59-46 win over Cusick.

The Warriors rebounded from their semifinal loss to eventual champion Tri-Cities Prep to end their season on a winning note.

Cody Jess led the Warriors with 19 points in the victory. Garret Jess added 14 points and Derek Isaak had 10 as three Warriors finished the game in double digits.

The Warriors controlled the game in the first half, building a 36-25 lead heading into the locker room and the Warriors never looked back as they rolled past Cusick.

ACH improved to 22-5 this season and brought home the 12th state tournament trophy in the school’s history.

ACH head coach Scott Isaak was unavailable for comment.
