MOSES LAKE — Moses Lake Christian Academy seniors Adrian Moffet and Riggs Yarbro will represent the Lions basketball team Saturday afternoon when they will play in the 1B-2B All-State game.

Moffet and Yarbro were the only two players from the Columbia Basin invited to participate in the 34th annual Washington Interscholastic Basketball Coaches Association All-State games.

The senior duo helped lead the MLCA Lions boys basketball team to the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association 1B boys championship game before falling to the Tri-Cities Prep Jaguars 48-41. Both Moffet and Yarbro were named to the All-tournament first team for their performances at the state championships.

Yarbro said he appreciates the opportunity to play in the All-State game.

“It’s really great,” he said. “It’s a high honor.”

In addition to being invited to participate in the All-State game, Yarbro will be awarded the 1B boys basketball Player of the Year award for his performance during his senior season at MLCA.

After completing his senior season, Yarbro was surprised to see he was chosen the 1B Player of the Year.

“When I first saw it, I was kind of surprised,” he said. “I knew I could get it. I feel blessed. It was surprising enough for me to be excited about it.”

Although Yarbro knew he was capable of receiving the award, he was surprised to see he received it.

“It’s a culmination of all the hard work I’ve invested in (the sport),” he said. “It’s been a great ride.”

Saturday’s 1B-2B All-State game will begin at 2 p.m. at Franklin High School in Seattle.
