Jack J. Clay, 64, of Ronan passed away from natural causes Wednesday, April 29, 2009, at his home. Jack was born May 19, 1944, in Scobey to Alvin and Ardes (Syme) Clay.

Jack spent most of his younger years in Seeley Lake. He married Yvonne Day on July 17, 1966, in Hamilton.

He worked construction for Nickelson Paving of Missoula and for more than 20 years as superintendent with Peter Kiewit Construction. He worked throughout the western United States and Montana. He retired to the Mission Valley.

Jack enjoyed the outdoors. He especially enjoyed his horses. He loved fishing, hunting, and packing into the back country. He loved his family and close friends and he enjoyed spending time with them.

He was preceded in death by his father, Alvin "Jack" Clay; brother, Dick Clay, of Washington; and sister, Cleo Knaus, of Plentywood.

He is survived by his wife, Yvonne, of Ronan; three children, Colette Moore of Missoula, Dawn Edens of Missoula, and Jason Clay of Polson; four granddaughters, Chasity, Chelsie, Natasha and Jennifer; and two great-grandchildren, Kaci and Mitchell.

He is also survived by his mother, Ardes Clay, of Kalispell; four sisters, Jodi and Ed Townsend of Bigfork, Debbie Clay of Kalispell, Donna West of Billings, and Carol Nelson of Great Falls; and sister-in-law, LaVetta Clay, of Washington; and many cherished aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, and special friends.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 8, at the Grogan Funeral Home in Polson.
