MISSOULA — The Chiefs and Maidens of the Ronan-Mission track team were at it again this week, racing for several places at the Russ Pilcher Top Ten track meet, then competing at Big Sky.

Ronan senior Sadie McMillan didn’t sit on last week’s success. She reached new heights to win the 100-meter dash (12.95) after being seeded sixth going into the event at the Top Ten. She also took third in the 100 hurdles (15.66), setting a new Ronan school record, and finished fourth in the 300 hurdles (47.33) and fifth in the long jump (15-07.25).

McMillan, senior Tabitha Carlson, sophomore Dessa Durglo and freshman Christina Williams snagged bronze in the 1,600 relay (4:13.95) with their best time of the year. Durglo took fifth at the triple jump (33-03.75) and Carlson finished sixth in the 400 (63.60).

The only boy to compete for Ronan at the meet, senior Jamie Engeldrum, took two medals. He took fifth in the 300 hurdles (43.06) and second in the 110 hurdles, a feat that Ronan girls’ head coach Crystal Pitts said was very difficult.

At Big Sky, Engeldrum kept things moving with a first place finish in the 300 hurdles in 41.82, his best time of the year. He also went third in the 110 hurdles (16.22).

Senior Adam Skogen took first in the javelin (171-8) and the discus (141.5) with teammate Evan Waldron right behind him in the javelin (160-11) for second. Waldron landed a 19-foot long jump that would have given him a first place finish in varsity competition.

Senior Danny Beavers earned a first place finish in the 3,200 (10:58.24) and second in the 1,600 (5:02.67).

Finishing at the top of the pack for the Maidens was McMillan in the 200. It was the first time she has attempted the race this season and the second time in her career.

Ronan competed at the Lake County Track Meet on Tuesday in Polson and competes at the Archie Roe Meet at 10 a.m. on Saturday in Kalispell.
