LAKE COUNTY — Unofficial results for the May 5 Lake County District election showed voters turned down the only levy on the ballot, but stayed true to incumbents for many of the open school board trustee positions.

All three incumbents were re-elected on the Polson School Board of Trustees. Brian Havlovick, Theresa Taylor and Caryl Cox will be sworn in again for three year terms.

Valley Journal editor Jim Blow was elected for the open Ronan School District trustee position, narrowly edging Stacey Ann Sherwin (76) and three other candidates with 104 votes.

Shane Reum and Arthur Soukkala won two of the Charlo District trustee spots, beating out four other candidates. Rhiannon Marie Liberty was voted in on Charlo District high school trustee position, beating Brian Tufly 49-41 votes.

The Upper West Shore District 33 Levy was voted down by 11 votes. The levy would have brought an increase in local taxes to support the general fund in the amount of $21,506 which is approximately 3.94 mills

for the purpose of operation and maintenance of the Dayton School. Passage of this proposal would have increased the taxes on a home with a market value of $100,000 by approximately $7.83 and on a home with a market value of $200,000 by approximately $15.65.
