MOSES LAKE — Alcohol and speed are believed to have contributed to a driver rolling a 1974 Jeep CJ5 on Westshore Drive in Moses Lake Monday night.

The Washington State Patrol reported Andrea D. Merrill, 30, Moses Lake, may be charged with DUI and speeding, in relation to the wreck.

“All three occupants of the vehicle had been drinking, and there was evidence of alcohol consumption at the scene,” stated Moses Lake police Sgt. Mike Williams.

Merrill allegedly lost control of the Jeep when exiting Interstate 90, onto Westshore Drive near Blue Heron Park. The vehicle began skidding, she reportedly over corrected, causing the Jeep to leave the roadway to the right and roll three times.

During the accident, a passenger was ejected from the vehicle, according to the state patrol.

Robert R. Tindall, Jr., 22, Moses Lake, received “severe head injuries” and was flown to Harborview Medical Center, in Seattle, in critical condition, according to the Moses Lake police. The state patrol noted he was not wearing a seat belt.

A second passenger, Dustin G. Upky, 21, Moses Lake, received “severe scalp/face injuries” and was also flow to Harborview Medical Center. He was wearing a seat belt.

Merrill was reported to have received facial lacerations and was transported to Samaritan, and also wore a seat belt.

The Moses Lake police began the investigation and turned it over to the state patrol due to the wreck beginning on the off-ramp of I-90.
