Junior golf tournament, clinics coming this summer

A junior golf championship tournament is scheduled for June 19 at Cabinet View Country Club in Libby, organizers announced.
Tournament divisions include beginners (3 holes), intermediate (6 holes) and advanced (9 holes). Medals will be awarded to the top three placers and prizes are presented to all participants. Burgers and hot dogs will be served after the tournament.
A series of junior golf clinics also begin the same week. Clinics will be held June 16-18 each of those three days for golfers 11-and-under (10-11 a.m.) and 12-and-older (11 a.m.-noon).
Additional junior clinics are slated for June 23, June 30 and July 7 with 11-and-under going from 9-10 a.m. and 12-and-older following from 10-11:30 a.m. Prizes are awarded after each clinic.
The cost is $10 for CVCC members, $20 for non-members.

Troy Softball Takes Two From Drummond
The Drummond High School softball team rolled into Troy Saturday with high hopes of ending a long streak of being on the wrong end of the score, and for half of the first game of the doubleheader, looked like they had every chance of doing just that. However the host Trojans exploded for nine runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, and then shut down Drummond in the top of the fifth, winning 14-3. Troy kept the bats hot in the second game, plating 21 runs to end that game early as well, 21-11.
Action on Quiet Waters Initiative expected May 26
The Montana Fish and Wildlife Commission will act on the Quiet Waters rule proposal in a meeting rescheduled for 8:30 a.m. May 26 at Montana WILD.
