CAREYWOOD — A toddler severely injured when he was accidentally run over by a rototiller a week ago is home from the hospital.

Tytus Barnhart, 4, faces extensive physical therapy but is expected to make a full recovery in the long run, said his father, Steve Barnhart.

“We’re enjoying having him home,” Barnhart said. “Everyone has been so supportive, sending cards, bringing by meals and offering prayers. There are literally tens of thousands of people praying for him.”

Tytus Barnhart was injured when he fell off a small tractor his father was driving while tilling the field near their Baker Road home in Careywood and was run over by the rotary cultivator trailing behind the tractor.

The toddler suffered several skull fractures, a fractured humerus bone and a broken fibula bone.

And, while he is having a little bit of trouble walking, he is relating well and is happy to be home, Barnhart said.

Sporting a bright green cast, the first thing Tytus wanted to do when he got home Thursday night — just a week after the accident — was hang out on the porch.

“He wanted to go out and see the animals,” Barnhart said.

The family wants the community to know how much they appreciate all the support and prayers they have received for Tytus from around the world, Barnhart said.

“God just protected him and Tytus is having a miraculous recovery,” he added. “It was a one of those horrible farm accidents but God just protected him.”
